I think that, in general, sitewide links should be avoided. Blogrolls are one of the very few exceptions -- and I'm not even 100% certain about those.

You could find your site penalized or deindexed.

Too many of any type of link can be an issue. It's best to get links from a wide variety of sites so that the rankings are more stable. The weight or value of a link can change as the search algorithms are adjusted.

Blogrolls I believe are more valuable as a quality factor for blogs.

If you can find pages that have the relevant keywords to interlink, then that would be fine. I wouldn't suggest using sitewide links

as far as I know, google has found a way to stop 3 way reciprocal links, and now it is devalued, so 1 way linking is still the best for your website only if they are authority for your site.
