Thread: Do you think using same wordpress theme would affect SERP in some way?

  1. Do you think using same wordpress theme would affect SERP in some way?

    Hi,
I have heard people from some seo forums saying that using same wordpress templates for different sites would affect SERP and some times it might even result in google penalization. Can anyone confirm this and why do people think like this....I thought design is just a design and it doesnot have any effect on SERP

  2. I believe you are correct.

The only possible exception I see is that if you had multiple sites with the same design on the same topic, a Google Quality Rater might see it as spammy and give you a manual penalty.

Oh wow. I learned something today

Lets say this is the situation:

I have a mortgage site with a certain theme. Then another topic related to finance uses the same theme. Can I get effected.

Experimentation would be required -- but I wouldn't expect a huge difference. They're both related to loss-of-money, and therefore they're not expecting to spend anymore.

Hmm, so its a really good idea to get a unique theme for your site

Whoops! I apologize. I was thinking that this was this conversation. As for using the same template, I won't answer -- I have little experience on 'at one!

If you are changing the image names for the template and all who use that template all have these same changed names, I could see that causing an issue. How much of the code is adjusted from the original when you make the template?

What about so many same wp templates used all over the web.Are they all spammy.

Some premium wp themes are used lot of times for great sites. How can they be spamy.

Say If I have 200 wp sites, should I be creating 200 custom themes. If yes, how will I do it economically.

    Thanks
