Thread: Internal Linking is not good for SEO?

Hybrid View

  1. Internal Linking is not good for SEO?

I have ready somewhere on a blog, that internal linking is not good. Certainly external links have much more values, but what about internal links?

I'm very confused now, because I thought that internal link building has a big importance in ranking.

Has google changed this in their algorithm? Any help is highly appreciate! Thanks!

Whatever you read was wrong. There is nothing wrong with internal linking. Internal text links are important for reinforcing the keywords themes on pages.

Text link menus and natural linking within content to other pages are all good for SEO. Just do not do it excessively.

    Agreed on every point!

Using well worded anchor text links on your site in a constructive but not excessive way has no bad effect, the complete opposite in fact.

The foot of a page is also a handy place to scatter a few keyword rich anchor links to vary your key word phrases amonst the links.

There is nothing wrong with internal linking - the first rule of SEO, think like a human. How are you meant to navigate a website without any internal links.
Build a Web App - build your own profitable web app and earn a passive income

Packing Cubes - how I stay organized on the road.

  9. When you create websites you shouldn't think what search engines want to see,you should think what a good site would be,because search engine changed during the course of time, but a good website is always a good website and a search engine will make good use of it.

As far as it is relevant, internal linking is good. Too much of anything is harmful and same is the case with internal linking.
Another benefit of internal linking is that it helps the search engine bots access those internal pages if they are not so easily accessible from the homepage.
However one thing to remember is that you shouldn't use the nofollow attribute to the internal links.

A very good example of internal linking can be taken from wikipedia itself. In almost every Wikipedia page you can see tonnes of internal links to relevant content.
