Thread: Is it necessary to link all posts together?

I have read in the SEO book, this is god practice to create the links between your posts but this is good if the contents are related. Google counts and more link juice if the contents and anchor text is related to contents.

If you link all posts together then it may create too many loops for the web crawler, so it may not index your site very well since it will only spend so much time traversing the links on your site. Like others have said, a selection of related post links should be good.

As regards the number of links on a page, the G webmaster guidelines used to suggest 100 as a reasonable limit. So maybe it would be ok to inter-link all 100 pages of a site on each page? But it would look a bit OTT with such a long list of links on thin-content pages I think.

Indeed, internal linking is one of the SEO factory but while you are linking you must ensure some important points.

    1. You blog/feed post must be relevant to the other post.

    2. Linking to irrelevant posts may cause negative effects.

Before you link to other relevant post, go through the content structure and should have basic knowledge of Latent Semantic Index, so you can do that properly.

But as per me, if one going to connect all his/her posts & if this is for the crawling purpose of all the posts, then sometime this can be consider as the illegal way by search engine. And if this thing is for the external links then this can be happen but if internal linking is there, nothing going to be illegal. So it is helpful as well as harmful for the site.

As Andy said, it's not recommended to put more than 100 links on a page. So, you start a website with a homepage. Every time you add a new article, there a link on the homepage. Pretty soon you have 100 pages and 100 links on the homepage. O.K. the next step is to categorize the sub pages. This way the homepage links to the categories and the categories link to the articles. If the site gets better, you may go down a few more levels. The manner in which you organize the site is called the site architecture.

The issue is that the site is organized like a silo. The may be important pages that are a few levels deep.

You shouldn't link all the posts together. Instead you should have a cross link strategy to link important posts together. So, both the users and search engines will find them.
