There is a cure for the Alexa virus, its called Adaware and Malware Bytes - you can get both from Download.com

Both of them do a good job of removing that alexa spyware from your computer.

Alexa rank can be manipulated. Not that big of a deal. they have a PHP program. It also works from there search.

So don't worry about what rank you see on sites.

If you put Alexa banner on your site, your traffic rank improves. I have experienced it. It's not a good measure of determining a website's traffic. I prefer COMPETE and QUANTCAST as compared to ALEXA.

Wanna know the best thing I ever heard of increasing your Alexa? Download on as many computers as you can the alexa toolbar and install it on the main browser. Put your site as the homepage.

Haven't tested it though, but seems like an awesome trick to trick others

Does alexa ranking help traffic ? I find that result of google pr and alexa can be quite the opposite

The Alexa ranking represents your traffic, it doesn't help your traffic.

If your traffic goes up, your Alexa ranking number will become smaller (better).

Well if a site doesn't have a lot of backlinks, but thousands of visitors this will be the case indeed. Or ofcourse the opposite

What you see mostly though is that websites with a higher pagerank usually have a lower (better) Alexa. But that's normal, because these high pagerank websites usually got a lot of backlinks which makes the visitors come to their site

In fact it's just common sense explained
