    Does Your Twitter PR Matter?

I was just curious, since I don't seen twitter links showing in Google webmaster tools (yet I guess), does the PR of your twitter account matter yet?

I was surprised when my bball site's twitter account showed as a PR-5? on Google toolbar, SEO book tool, and on the first tool in google for PR, Google PageRank Checker - Check Google page rank of any web pages, at a 5...just under 1800 followers for this twitter account, so I figured PR-2 at best.

About 2% of the site traffic comes from Twitter, so I guess the main question is does your Twitter PR matter yet? or is it simply number of relevant followers?

College Hoops (collegehoopsvid) on Twitter is the twitter site if really bored.

Why would your Twitter PR matter?

If you are wondering if Twitter links will pass PR, they do not. All Twitter links have the nofollow attribute and therefore do not pass PR.

The PR is simply inherited from Twitter or links to your Twitter page. It doesn't go anywhere from there.

Right, so does it matter at all? I see NoFollow social bookmarking links show up in Google Webmaster tools for other websites I have(Mixx is one SB nofollow site that comes to mind as far as being listed by G in webmaster tools for sites), so that was the genesis of my question I guess. Other twitter accounts I have show varying levels of PR from the one mentioned though they were made prior to or in the same timeframe and have similar numbers of followers...

Or, is this potentially something that "could" pass on link value once G figures out how twitter info is going to lend to contextual search?

Anyway, thanks for the thoughts. Was just curious.
    Cheers,
    James

Links to others' twitter accounts from your twitter page are dofollow, but they count as internal links so unfortunately the passed link juice is very low.
Otherwise the PR doesn't matter at all, except that it is one of the 200+ factors considered for Serps Placement(though its importance has highly reduced in the past few years)

If you cannot do anything useful with the PR, it doesn't matter. I should have clarified one thing. All outbound links are nofollow.

Each account does have its own PR as every account is considered a 'page' in twitter.

My twitter page is a PR3. Perhaps the PR will influence what twitter pages Google shows in the serps.

maybe, who knows someday google will pay more attention on social identities, but for the mean time, it PR on twitter doesn't make any sense at all.
