Just How Effective Is Social Bookmarking?

I am considering purchasing a social bookmarking package from someone, but I really have no idea how it works or if it will bring good traffic to one of my websites. Basically, I would like to know how effective this is and where I should look for a good bookmarking service. My websites desperately need a bit of exposure!

I have done social bookmarking for many of my sites. It helps to rank your website better in search engines. You also get a good pagerank on next Google PR update.

One should take care that those social bookmarking links are from high PR and are Do follow.

Quality matters and not quantity.

The SEO value of Social Bookmarking has its pros and cons.

One of my sites appeared on Redit.com Front page and Stumbleupon, and got maby 2000 visitors, but after that it returned to normal 150 -200 visitors. Didn't even know until now after looking at my referrers in G.Analytics .
It was becuase only I had some dumb thing on my site, (a flash animation I made way back years ago). Didn't really seem to have any good effect on the site. Just a waste of bandwidth. lol

You'll never know how it works until you try it.

If tons of people have proven that it sucks, then obviously dont waste your money. But right now many people are having good success with it.
