Social bookmarking still helpful for SEO?

With Digg and many other SB sites trying to remove the link juice from their sites for the submitters site, do you think that Social bookmarking is still good for SEO?

Or they just deliver some traffic upon interest?

Um, you can see Digg almost completely removing the backlinking element and hence, the SEO effect may diminish. I read somewhere that Google crawler has the ability to go through frames and index the sites.

I guess time will tell. For traffic, they just boost traffic stats, actual conversion rates are very very low.

    BTW, Your blog looks cool!

    Thanks for the appreciation Swastik
What we actually expect from Social bookmarks is SEO but not traffic. SEO gives long term traffic, but SB sites are giving just some instant boost to traffic.

Yup, and with the step that Digg has taken, if others follow the suit, then it might altogether diminish the SEO benefit one gets from social bookmarking!

Sure that new bar from Digg is a pain, but linkage from social bookmarking websites can't do any harm. I doubt the others will follow Digg's path now that they have an advantage over them (think of it this way: just look at the amount of people that complains about Digg's nav bar. Obviously they will get less subscriptions and webmasters will mostly rely on other SB sites such as Reddit and StumbleUpon.)

Social Bookmarking does not get you any cool backlinks or something like that, but does boost your SERPS for a certain amount of time depending on the competition

Social bookmarking is a great and free way to get one way links, and SERPS can shoot up but very temporarily.

I recommend SENuke for the process.
