    Auto DM's?

Recently I have been bombarded by auto DM's.

Now I have got rid of them.

Do you like them? Do you send auto DM's?

I hate auto-DMs they are very impersonal, and people rarely respond to them, so why use them in the first place?

If you use it to promote your blog, some people may get annoyed and even unfollow you, as the results of a poll on twitip says (Sorry I can't find the post).

To turn off auto DMs, go to http://twitter.com/optmeout and you will know what to do. Since I've opted out of auto DMs, there are so much less auto-DMs sent to me, and more 'personal' DMs.

NoČ. I hate them and I don't send any.

Gloson, your link only works for Tweet Later suscribers, how do we know if the people DMing us are using this bot?

I know that opting out of Tweetlater auto DMs will only block Tweetlater Auto DMs, but not ALL auto DMs.

Though, it managed to block most of the annoying auto DMs, which is great.

Indeed, but surely there must be a way to block all DMs?! I can't believe they aren't doing anything about this (I mean, the Twitter HQ).

And I did not know that TwitterLater was responsible for most of the DMs, thanks for the heads up.

Yes they are? They're making programs like the one Gloson listed above to stop them. OK, this won't block out all of them, but it certainly works for the majority as most Auto DM'ers use Tweet Later.

That is not a service supported by Twitter, TweetLater is an independant company.

I HATE auto DMs. They are a headache. Generally I unfollow people who send them.

To be really cool. Auto DM: "You're an ass for following me."

Let's see how fast they'll unfollow

I'm not a giant fan of auto-dms, but they make sense in theory. You write a personal message to greet your new followers, like the welcome to a newsletter. I think if used more organically "hey, how's it going? thanks for the follow! Feel free to check out my site" they would be somewhat less annoying.
