It doesn't! With apps like TweetDeck and Seesmic Desktop you can manage your account along with working :)

My main account has 5k, but it is too spread out. Internet marketing friends, real estate friends, Costa Rica people, just way too random to monetize with it right now, but I have also started a few other accounts and will give that a definite try.
