Thread: Facebook Promotion

  1. Facebook Promotion

I have a fb group for my blog, currently 18 people. But in my stats I haven't seen any visitors from the group. Maybe it's helping spread out the word somehow though.

Mike is a big fan of facebook groups, I think he has a couple groups for every site, so hows it working for you?

This is a good idea and results from promoting my sites (especially forum and affiliate landing pages) on facebook & orkut albeit on existing groups/communities has yielded very good results. If there are already groups about the topic being targetted then the website having an existing community or mailing list of people who will join a newly created group will be a big advantage.

It helps to promote something new when you have it. Just mass email all members. The database can be very useful when you come up with a new service and help someone else promote something related to the groups.

    Haha...

Well it kinda sounds like spamming, but it's not really. The members join the group because they're interested in what the group has to offer. I have a group for Mighty Eagle Foundation -- Raising up the lost generation. and have a few hundreds of members in it.

So from time to time they are actually ASKING for updates and info about or from the site. So as long as we don't abuse the mass-email system...

    Spam-like behavior on Facebook:

    1. Frequent group join requests. If you are advertising 20 new projects, this can become a bit tedious.
    2. Frequent posts used to advertise previously noted 20 latest projects. If my friends experience an important milestone or just need help, I don't see it without weeding through the "Why you should invest in Junta property!" or "Become a battered Muslim bride today!" notes.

It's bad juju to over-spam your friends. They will just end up removing or blocking you.

Actually, no. I just started not to spam those who are not likely to be interested.

Thanks. Note to self: Inviting SEO friends to political groups is a no no.
