FaceBook and Twitter Are Not Socilial Signals Used for Ranking

I have been saying this ever since Google abandoned their attempts to use social signals for ranking purposes in 2012. Here is the word from Matt Cutts.

It is also getting really tiring to see all the scammers on sites like Warrior Forum who continually sell plans that will rocket your site to the top of Google through social signals. It is complete BS.

The blocking from a social network that he refers to is when they had a falling out with Twitter and Twitter banned GoogleBot from the Twitter site.

Almost all links from social network sites have the nofollow attribute, so backlinks from social networks do not help.

Use social networks if you like them or believe they will drive traffic, but do not count on them for improving Google rankings.

    Hi,

Geesh tell the truth you don't own twitter or facebook so you could care the less about them for they are your competition. I see traffic from facebook everyday. I don't care if the links are no follow.

Google doesn't even use their own Google+ social network for ranking purposes. A spider doesn't know what to do with any page that is nothing more than a list of unassociated comments and articles.

But Facebook and Twitter are effective for traffic purposes and popularity on the respective field.

That is what I said. You can use them for traffic, but they are worthless for rankings.

My point is that social signals are not used for ranking purposes, which is the claim made by way too many people trying to sell social networking services. Their claims of ranking benefits are invalid.

In case people are confused: You can get a Facebook page ranked (even if the links from it don't help your other websites in ranking).

So it will be found in G search like any other web page.

Building this page along with your own domain site will help build your brand authority. Building a brand is easier than trying to compete unnaturally for competitive SEO terms IMO.

Exactly. A FaceBook page can still rank well. Many FaceBook individual and Group pages do rank well. However, the people who sell fake Likes and try to sell you a bazillion links from FaceBook pages to your web site while claiming a special Google significance with social networking are just selling foo foo dust. A lot of web site owners have become convinced that they need to participate in social networking in order to get their web site to rank well. That is complete nonsense.

Yep: cut off the "mechanisms" of the sellers of fake ranking juice.
