I would like to suggest facebook,
It is best place for this purpose.
I would go with Twitter. But it depends on the niche.
Twitter is starting to get more popular.

Both are different. Twitter is micro blogging and facebook is social network.
And both were used for different purpose. Business people mostly use Twitter and student and some pro use facebook.

For Social Media Marketing, I would go for Twitter...
Hi, Facebook and twitter both are really good to get traffic for any online business site you just need to follow people related to niche of your site.
I really love doing my business via facebook. I can chat online to my customers and updated my business fan page with new products and services.
Hmmm...facebook is not that great for traffic really.
Or for business.
Seems that those that push facebook for business and traffic on forums?
Just doing so because they want to parrot what they have seen elsewhere.

Again, just a quick poll among my facebook friends is that hey, we are on facebook to just check with others, not to be buying stuff, or selling stuff, or going to other links to buy stuff and sell stuff.

For me FB and Twitter are both totally useless for getting traffic but still I use them to get more reputation for my site in SEs.
It's not that there's not a lot of traffic on Facebook. The same was true of MySpace. The Myspace downfall is that it became a glitter ghetto. I think the idea of Facebook is that you need to be in a niche where your users will visit your page for photos and information. But you don't bring much money to the table. Something like classic car restoration or sports fishing are example of niches that could do well in my opinion.
Again, that article stresses one thing that all businesses, and webmasters pushing a business of some sort, on facebook.
That is duplication!
People would rather go to a website for information, to buy, etc. than do it on facebook.
And what hurts facebook?
All the damn scams and spams that happen almost all the time!
People are getting more and more into the mode of "don't click on links on facebook"
What I tell everyone, never click on any link posted on you wall, even if it is your mother!
