Thread: Measuring Social Media Influence

There are a number of tools in development for measuring social media influence, including:

• Klout
• PeerIndex
• TweetGrader
• Kred

Klout seems to be the leader, but still has a lot of room for both improvement and adoption.

Because Klout is the leader, more people seem to be putting work into gaming their Klout scores. I bumped my own Klout from 39 to 61 with a few days of heavy tweeting. The official explanation of the Klout score is here: Klout Score.

Most Klout optimization seems to be the same as general Twitter optimization:

• Tweet more
• Get more followers
• Get more mentions
• Get more retweets

I've figured out a few tricks for doing those things over the last week, but that is a topic for another thread.

I've been paying attention a bit more to my klout score, especially since I've been able to raise it consistently over the past month or so.

You're ahead of me, but I'm catching up.

Klout is going to change the algorithm for Klout score calculation next week.

I'm sure there will be many happy and unhappy people.

The recalculation happened. I got rolled back from 70 to 53. Owww...

Guess what?
I could care less about klout....

Just like the other tools out there to measure how good you are doing on twitter, it means nothing in the real world.
