I think the next Facebook does exist, Trig.com
Not only does it have the basic features of FB it has more- group chat, page and IM translation, sub groups- but more than that it gives value to the user for time spent online with both activity credits to spend on all the partner company goods and services as well as a bonus plan for all the multiple levels of friend connections you bring to the site.
Music/film downloads, gaming, cash back at all the major online stores, cloud services, financial services etc. are now landing.
Invitation only at present but it will open up in due course.
    4 million registered so far.
Looks like they are cracking the big social media dilemma - how to monetise on the users. None of the big guns are currently succeeding at it.

With a young person's version in the wings too, Trig could be a winner.
Trig was seeking to be a 'Myspace for musicians' back in 2007 but only took off in a few nations. It has resurrected and could be a major player time around.

Oh, for those who do not want to discontinue FB, Twitter or LinkedIn, it is fully integrated and and seeing feeds and posting from Trig elsewhere (giving credits of course) is very handy.

What does Trig do? I've been actively involved with the web for a long time and I never heard of it.

Apparently, no one else has ever heard of it, either. Its home page has a PR of n/a, which either means it is heavily penalized or no one links to it.

Who would sign up for Trig when it doesn't even have a description of what it does on the home page?

All he is doing is promoting his own site.
Which is nothing but a terrible rip off of facebook.

    Years on the net?
    What a lie....

Hi, Trig Entertainment has actually been around for a good while and looked like it may be a musicians rival to MySpace back in 2007 as I said
Trig.com – is it a MySpace killer? - Robert's talk so I guess 6 years could qualify as 'years' in this fast changing internet world.

The company dabbled a variety of things and is now the exclusive partner for a network marketing company, Enwire, which will soon be the first stock exchange listed network/social media company.

Trig has many of the features of Facebook plus many more but is set up with a business model at the foundation both for the company and as a revenue stream for users. Facebook has admitted they have yet to find an effective way of monetising the users.

Trig.com social media homepage (launched last month thus the 2013) indeed does not say a great deal but then again neither does Facebook's. But everybody knows what Facebook is /does. Of course it was not always like that.
Trig is by invitation at present so invites do know from their inviter what they are signing up for.

It is early days but an impressive functionality is already in place with much more to come.
Let's Face(book) it, they and others such as Google have come leaps and bounds in relatively short periods of time and were not particularly good looking at the start.

I think it will be a serious Facebook rival for all sorts of reasons:
    1. Users can make money for the time they spend on it - the shopping cash back scanner launched last weekend. First of numerous goods and services.
    2. Digital content remains private and many do have privacy concerns over Facebook - not passed on the external companies and is totally removed if an account is deleted.
    3. Trig is developing an interface and features for under 21 and under 30's (I guess oldies young at heart will not be barred) which is a first with such variety so we may well see the young migrate over to something fresher
    4. Musicians and authors can publish and promote with double the earnings as Itunes for instance on Trig Music

Yes I am a user and business partner but on topic nonetheless. Now if anyone would like an invite to check it out..........

That mighta been a useful tidbit to disclose in the first post instead of the third, don't you think? When you start doing veiled self-promo (ie - the appearance of a third party endorsement, but for your own site) it tends to shoot your credibility to tatters.

If there were a next facebook, even starting out now, don't you think investors would drop the real facebook and dump their money in the new facebook?

For years, it has always been someone starting some site on the cheap and saying "the next google" , "the next yahoo", "the next tumblr", etc etc etc

None of that has happened yet.

    Third?

Rob, I am a member of the network that has been using and promoting Trig but not an owner. I don't think my first message was veiled or misleading in drawing attention to a new site unless the forum would prefer to only share information that they have no personal involvement in or potential benefit from.

To be fair, Trig is not self promoting as the 'Next Facebook' or next anything else. It shares many features and will likely share many users. I personally would not expect Trig to arrive at anything like the alleged 800m + users on Facebook but may well deliver a revenue model that will exceed Facebook.

Businesses wax and wane in all categories. Social media is relatively new so it would be unwise to dismiss the possibility of a shifting of power balances which is exactly what has happened with the growth of FB.
The point of the thread was that many, especially the young are drifting from FB or at least ripe for alternatives.
Gaining value for time spent online as well as for social interaction is a positive option for the young when so many are feeling limited by life choices today.

"Business partner" implies part ownership, and not just a user. Rob is correct in pointing that out. It could also imply that you have been hired to do the promotional work.

If Trig does not start doing some type of promotion work, it doesn't stand much chance of becoming anything. I don't see any indication that it has a large following, although your promotion work will likely help pick up new members.

The home page has a PageRank of n/a, which is unheard of for a social networking site, especially an established site.

The curious part is that out of only 790 backlinks pointing to the home page (as reported by BacklinkWatch.com), almost all the linking sites are part of a network owned by one guy. More than 95% of the domains have the word "passions" in the name. Sorry Bronllys, something does not smell right with Trig. If people were using it, there would be a wide range of links pointing to the home page.

That's interesting Jon. Thanks for pointing that out about Passions Network. Will enquire about that. Would back links also apply to the referral code / registration page that are sent out through Trig to either email or FB, Twitter and so on for that is where invitees would land?
I assume the homepage you searched is simply the sign in page for existing user and I can assure you there are users numbers growing. Portugal and Spain have the most visits currently with Sweden, UK and USA following.
There was almost 4 million who pre registered under another company name whose accounts were carried forward to Trig.com and are being encouraged to log on.

True, I guess business partner could have been misleading. I am one of the leaders in the network marketing company, Enwire, that is driving the expansion of Trig. I will have a bunch of shares in this company which will shortly be the first company in networking and social media to float on a stock exchange so will only be a (minor) owner in that sense.

I agree, promotion is key and both the network and the company are now stepping up as Trig has recently launched from the Beta version.
I'm sure folks will hear plenty about it in due course!
