Thread: Twitter Sucks

There are many webmasters and website owners who are making FULL use of twitter without spamming (or better say smart spamming). It demands time as well as interaction. You need to interact with your followers and followings personally to create that genuineness. And they's start reading your tweets.

Else, they'd either ignore you as another URL spammer or on-purpose tweeter. Most of the people are under assumption that get 1000s of followers; start tweeting your every URL or article and all your followers would click you. LOL.. Funny.. They've other people too and they won't read each and everybody.

Devote some time, talk and tweet sensibly and twitter worths to some extent.

My mortgage account works very well, and mostly because I am known in the realtor world and people just add me because they know me from previous times, such as the SEO contest last year and without any effort I have about 4,500 followers there.
But it also means you need to focus on a niche you are good with or have something to tweet about and one you are at a point where people will be interested in following you, their followers will follow.
It's not that easy with just an account where you chat about personal stuff or mix topics too much.

When I opened the account, I already learned from previous mistakes with my main one.

Yes, twitter does work, but if you fall into the trap where you add people hoping they will someone add you back and visit your site, it becomes very frustrating as the ones who dominate twitter are not likely to pay too much attention to someone they don't know.

I use my Twitter account to keep in touch with cyclists and a very select few webmasters (mainly those that rarely update).

I write Twitters occasionally, but I never read them.

It seems to me that this is what most people must do -- send messages out into empty space with no real hope of anyone ever reading them. It's like castaways stuffing messages in bottles.

I think Twitter is just a way for people to express themselves without bothering others.

I got better results promoting my forum through Facebook then Twitter.

I've been thinking the same lately, some people might read it but for me even Shoes' tweets aren't so informative -- He just responds to other people and gives an update sometimes. But heck I liked reading every tweet from Travis Barker though

There is no doubt about that.
Most of its members are using it for creating as many followers as they can - so that they can advertise anything !! But ! They are not aware that those 100's and 1000's of their followers are too trying to spam and not into connecting with others !!!

Twitter would have been a could tool indeed, if they would have done something so that only serious members who are for connecting with each other can join it!!

Same here, I don't find the point of twitter. I think it's just useless unless you're really famous and have at least 50,000+ followers and still just don't like twitter.

In an ideal world you would have 10,000 followers by following only 50. There is only about 50 people worldwide whose tweets are real and worth reading. When you tweet something and have a large amount of people following, you can pretty much get online anytime day and night and someone will reply to whatever you have to say. Just that the ratio depends on how interesting your tweets really are.

I write there at twitter very occasionally but i follow few of my twitter friend regularly (for e.g. my hosting provider).
