What is Twitter?

Twitter is a kind of social networking site, but it's a little different from the rest because it focuses on just one thing – status updates, or 'tweets' as Twitter calls them.

Basically a 'Tweet' is a note from you that answers the question 'what are you doing?'

Each tweet gets posted to your profile, and to the people who are 'following' you (which is just another way of saying your 'friends.')

It probably helps to think of Twitter as a kind of mini blog. You're posting updates about what's going on in your life at the moment. As an example, I might post a tweet that says “Just had breakfast, and now I'm starting work on my new eBook," or it might be “Feeling tired after a hard days work,” or even “I'm in the pub having a beer!”

Twitter lets other people know what you're doing, and in today's society we're pretty obsessed with other peoples lives, which has a lot to do with why Twitter has become so popular.

You can even set up your phone to work with Twitter so that you can send your tweets even when you're out and about.

Twitter is very useful to us an an internet marketer. Firstly, it allows you to link to your own websites, and perhaps equally as important is that it allows your readers to gain an insight into YOU. People are far more likely to buy from people who they feel they 'know' and have a pre-existing relationship with. Twitter is a great way of building that relationship. You can even use something called TwitPic to post and share photographs.

Twitter is one of The hottest subjects right now, and if you're not currently using it in your internet marketing business then you really are missing out.

What kind of products sell well on Twitter and how do you get followers interested in your specific niche?

Big brands are making massive leeway into the online world by using stooges to post fake tweets and talk up brands.

So, in that respect anyone can push their brand further, but to make bonafide sales out of it, well - what do people want to buy - that's the million dollar question?

Many people are getting cpa leads just with their tweets. Say if you are having a good number of active followers you can easily find out someone who is interested in the product or service that you have.

And getting followers in a specific niche is a bit difficult but possible. We can search for people in that specific interest or by the keywords they used to tweet.

By going to people promoting the same products, checking the people who are following that account and start following them. 95% off them will refollow you, than you just need to send the tweets with the products and hope a lot of people will buy the products

What I thought was funny was out of the blue Shoe Money and Johnny Chow follwed one of my twitter accounts (I must have triggered on of their tools since I know neither of them and don't make enough money for them to know me.....30% increase in followers from folks doing the "Follow big whales in your niche's followers" rule within a week from that...
Course, I'm sure they both read my blather too...

I also think of twitter as a micro-blog. It's less useful for social networking like facebook and myspace type sites.

Twitter is useful for selling but lacking. The tweets are a little short and they don't allow live links.

It would also be useful to have a tweet restriction setting. So that you could give some people unlimited tweets and restrict some to lower amounts. I hate following someone and every five minutes they are flooding you with tweets. At this point, I don't even read tweets sent to be due to the 'tweet spam' that I'm getting. I'm sure that it's the same with a lot of other people.
