I don't get the point of Twitter. Is it just like facebook?

The value is what you make of it.
If you are keen on keeping other people apprised of your every action and emotion, twitter is a great way to do it.
Facebook takes it a step further by adding apps and games to your profile.
There's also a bidirectional plugin between Facebook and Twitter which allows you to update your status in twitter and have it reflected in your Facebook status, and vice versa.

Oh I see.
Confused: did i create this thread? or did someone else do it for me. I don't remeber making a thread for this question, but maybe I did..lol![]()
LOL,... perhaps it was late?
Have you checked out LinkedIn's twitter app yet? Very neat.

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.
Twitter can be used to promote digg's entry.
You can be easily on the first page of specified digg-like with only ~20 friends.
Just submit the URL and your friends may DIGG! it![]()
I use twitter to promote blog posts and get links. I try to just keep in touch with 180 or so people and I don't chat all of the time. Just once or twice a day.
Then when I write a post that I want to get something started with (good stuff only...not a garbage post), I tweet it up and I have 60 or so people visit my post quickly...some will post on the subject on their own and link to me.
Joost DeValk had an interesting post about it...

Interesting read on how it worked in that case.

My problem with the Twitter paradigm is the same as my problem with Facebook and other social networking sites -- I am too many people.
My webmaster friends don't care about the same topics as my IT consulting friends, who don't share the same interests as my hacking friends, who (somewhat) don't have the same interests as my firearm enthusiast friends.
Any Twitter I send, or any post I make to Facebook, is going to target about 30% of my contacts and confuse or annoy the rest.
What am I missing here? I feel like such a luddite!
