Alexa is "OK". It's certainly not perfect, but nothing public is. Compete and QuantCast are far easier to game than Alexa, just by installing their server-side scripts.

Any way you look at it though, lots more work to do.

Well, Alexa is just based on the users that use their toolbar

So it's normal it isn't perfect

That's probably why tons of webmaster forums are better than normal sites.. there are much more webmasters who use the toolbar than users (I think it's like that but I'm not sure)

I think people worry too much about PR. And then they forget to worry about their content. And then their website sucks.
And by people, I don't mean everyone. Just some ones.

You can see quite often threads like "what is my PR1 blog worth", on DP. Totally cool to do this. But when you open the thread. You see no link to their blog. They think PR is the only thing that matters.
Here is another example. "selling PR3 blog link. pm me your offer." Again. When you open the thread. There is no link to their blog.

That is just amusing. I often laugh aloud to them.

(Just picture me laughing myself in front of my computer

)

Personaly I like Alexa more than PR. Doesn't it use the visitor countsomehow to calculate the rank? Or is it only links there too?

Alexa's ranking is counted on the people using their toolbar. So if every NB user would use the alexa toolbar (in fact it isn't a toolbar but a little small thing at the bottom of your browser) than NB's Alexa would be lower than it is now (38K)

I'm pretty sure it would be like 20K than

Normally I didn't use the alexa toolbar and my Alexa was around 900K, than I started using it and it only got better (ofcourse because of more traffic too but), now it is 500K

I do not understand how Alexa works seriously. Sometimes I see my website ranked up with same percentage change and on the next refresh, its gone down. I have been waiting a long for my Website's Google PR update but its still 0

I have bunch of good backlinks but in vain...well... who cares :s

But its still PR 2 boo!

Making Money Blogging - Blog Stew is at 860, 916 so atleast I've seen some type of improvement on those sites. If Alexa is to be trusted hehe.
