Personally I do find the Alexa ranking to be confusing. If I check one of my blog's stats by Awstat, the traffic has not changed much... actually it has dropped slightly the past few days. But my Alexa ranking has gone up to 264,326 from around 300,000.

Alexa ratings are very unreliable until you get below 100,000. They are not very reliable until below 10,000.

Well once you passed the 10k mark, it means something already so I wouldn't bother a lot than

It isn't so reliable indeed, but it helps for some people to get more earnings through sales.. If I could get my ProxB.Com Alexa beneath 100K I'm sure I can double the prices at least 5 times

Well... for me Alexa ranking matters either for 'personal satisfaction' or to show people where my website stands in website jungle

My website is on 465000+ and hoping to see it below 300K within a month

I don't really bother even looking at Alexa rankings...especially after someone showed me how they are so easily 'faked'.

If you want your Alexa rankings to increase, get webmasters to your sites. Being that webmasters are the majority users of the Alexa toolbar and plugins showing the Alexa rankings for sites; hence why webmaster forums are so often highly ranked with Alexa with only a handfull of visitors, yet an arcade site with even 1000s of visitors who have no idea what Alexa is will have a hard time breaking into the top million on Alexa. (my apologies to anybody who may have already posted that)
