Anyone know of an SSH client for the iPad that supports port forwarding? I Googled around but I'm not clear if any of the apps I came across support port forwarding the same way PuTTY does.

Not yet. iPad, iPhone and Droid seem to be more compatible with VPN, anyway.
I've seen that page. It says:
These connections would need to stay open for several hours. Unless I'm missing something here, being disconnected every 10 minutes would suck.keep connections open for up to 10 minutes in the background.
