What program would be used to open these files?

I got a script today that was free but had to do some digging for the extra database files and they are in this format
    file.zip.part1
    file.zip.part2
    file.zip.part3
    file.zip.part4

Tries to remove the .part1 tried as a rar, zip even tried removing the .zip.part and adding .r01 no luck. I have tried winrar and 7zip but not having any luck anyone have any other ideas?

You can't currently open it. Usually, the .part is tacked on during download in order to signify it hasn't completed.

Once the download completes, the filename should revert to zip.

    You currently have incomplete files.

  3. Hmmm... some people do create multipart zip files on purpose.

If you open the part1 file in WinRAR, it should search for the other part files automatically.

If WinRAR's not working like that, then maybe there is something missing.

What error message does WinRAR issue when you try to open part1?

Those are the actual file names are
    rapidshare.com/files/116138067/articles_db.zip.part1
    rapidshare.com/files/116138143/articles_db.zip.part2
    rapidshare.com/files/116138121/articles_db.zip.part3
    rapidshare.com/files/116138020/articles_db.zip.part4

Unexpected end of archive is there error no clue these are the only 4 files and downloaded them twice. Time to move and forget about them.

  5. Unexpected end of archive means that you don't have all the files.

Thats a good reason to give up this idea. Only four were given running the repair utility in winrar fixed #1 but wont fix the other 3. Was probably a waste of time to even try this idea anyways.

Maybe one of the files did not download properly. I have had to download these before and when you open the 1st part, it does the rest automatically.

  8. Yeah, you're missing a file if you get that error, but those are valid filenames (they won't change to .zip).

If recovering some of the data is any help to you, use WinRar's option "Keep broken files". Then you can recover the portion that you did manage to download.
