Hmmm....Lets see how things go for MS, Chrome OS by Google is scheduled for 2010, according to me, Windows 7 is going to do great in the markets.
Cannot imagine in whose favour the markets will tumble by 2012.

Windows 95 - 16 megs of memory
windows 98 - 128 megs of memory
Windows 2000 - 256 megs of memory
Windows XP - 512 megs of memory
Windows Vista and 7 - 1 gig of memory
Windows 8 - 2 - 3 gigs of memory?????

Oh boy, I can not wait to see what kind of bloatware microsoft is working on. Is it going to need at least 2 gigs of memory and a quad core CPU to work? Or maybe even an 8 core CPU?

Don't forget for Vista that's 1 Gig min...3 Gig "recommended"....I learned long ago, when I'm ready for a new version of Windows, its time for a new laptop

What's today's software business model...80% complete (or less), released before your competitor == greater market share, then take care of the 20% you didn't finish with service packs and updates...or something to that effect...

I have heard of this news before. Major Release is what makes me excited and also the year 2012 brings all the global attention because of the "End of the World" title tag,.
