Your feedback needed on a laptop purchase!

hey all notebook owners! I think that covers pretty much all the members here

    I'm going to buy two of these Lenovo ThinkPad T400 P8400 2.26GHz 160GB 14.1"WXGA WiFi - eBay (item 220451593695 end time Jul-18-09 09:21:15 PDT)

One for me and one for a friend. So what do you think?

Anyone here has a ThinkPad T400 or T500?
I'll probably take the T400, but I'm used to 15.4" laptops, so I'm afraid 14.1" will be too small.

I picked up a T500 this evening. The ThinkPads are durable machines, and that is a major consideration for me. I also like the ergonomics of the design. A lot of notebooks these days don't seem to be designed with humans in mind.

I paid extra for the T500 because I wanted a 15.4" display. Unfortunately, I am discovering that the 1280x800 resolution of the T500 just isn't making me happy. My beat up old Dell supported 1680x1050.

But man... that's an awesome price on those T400's and they are very nice mid-range machines.

Do you buy a new laptop every Month? It seems like you were talking about some not too long ago.

I bought an HP TX2513 - it is a touchscreen, now whenever I use someone else's laptop I try to do things by touching the screen....

It is also a tablet, which makes for comfortable work while sitting in a chair waiting for an appointment, etc... The only downfall is the screen in outdoor lighting, even maxing out the light it is still hard to see, it has too many layers because of the touch screen capability.

The pen is cool, especially when it has an eraser - still not sure how it senses the eraser????

Dell Latitudes are pretty durable. Other Dell notebook lines are not so durable.

    Panasonic Toughbooks are quite durable.

So I ordered a thinkpad T500. Wanted to get a T400, but they only had one in stock, so I got one T400 for a friend and a T500 for me. Should arrive in a few days, which is pretty good since I had my previous laptop stolen last week..

The T400 looks interesting. I need a laptop and have been putting it off for a while. I was looking into the Toshiba Satellite A135 with Dual Hard Drive and the ThinkPad x300 about a year ago. But was too busy to buy one.

Whats the price on the T500?

T500 pricing varies wildly depending upon the options you choose and where you buy the machine.

I got a lousy deal, because I wanted a machine that I could get on the same day. I didn't want to take the broken Dell on my trip to Chennai.

The price for the T500 is good. Approx $900 and another $200 to pimp it out with a 7200 rpm hardtive, 4 GB ram and a fingerprint touchpad.

How did the T500 hold up on the trip to Chennai? How much does it weigh?
