Thread: Installation help

  1. #11
    This archive is just the original one:

    HTML Code:
    <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->
    <table width="100%" align="center">
    <td><a href="/lang/en<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/en.gif" alt="English"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/de<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/de.gif" alt="German"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/es<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/es.gif" alt="Spanish"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/fr<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/fr.gif" alt="French"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/it<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/it.gif" alt="Italian"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/pt<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/portuguese.jpg" alt="Portuguese"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/ru<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/ru.gif" alt="Russian"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/ja<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/jp.gif" alt="Japanese"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/ko<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/korean.jpg" alt="Korean"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/zh-TW<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/chinese.png" alt="Traditional Chinese"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/zh-CN<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/chinese.gif" alt="Simplified Chinese"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/ar<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>"><img src="/graphics/saudiarabia.gif" alt="Arabic"></a> </td>
    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
    But if you see the source in a browser these is the result.

    HTML Code:
    <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->
    <table width="100%" align="center">
    <td><a href="/lang/en/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/en.gif" alt="English"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/de/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/de.gif" alt="German"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/es/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/es.gif" alt="Spanish"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/fr/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/fr.gif" alt="French"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/it/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/it.gif" alt="Italian"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/pt/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/portuguese.jpg" alt="Portuguese"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/ru/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/ru.gif" alt="Russian"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/ja/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/jp.gif" alt="Japanese"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/ko/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/korean.jpg" alt="Korean"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/zh-TW/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/chinese.png" alt="Traditional Chinese"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/zh-CN/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/chinese.gif" alt="Simplified Chinese"></a> </td>
    <td><a href="/lang/ar/includes/flags-google.shtml"><img src="/graphics/saudiarabia.gif" alt="Arabic"></a> </td>
    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
    I just use the original ones, the $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI completes those links; don't understand when the link call for the translate/index.php... How I fix this to make it works? I put this links in another dir, and is the same redirection. I think it is my misinterpretation of the readme file, and maybe some I do it in the wrong way.

    Thanks for your help Will, u r the best!

  2. I am trying to imagine what could be happening here.

    In comparison, here is my source code:
    <li><a href="/lang/de<?php echo $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] ?>">German<img src="/images/de.png" width="16" height="11" alt="German"></
    And here is what shows in the browser:
    <li><a href="/lang/de/">German<img src="/images/de.png" width="16" height="11" alt="German"></a></li>
    It looks like something seriously stuffing up the value of $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"], but I can't imagine what would do that or why. I've never seen that issue before and it just doesn't make sense.

    Can you make the translation script live on your pages for awhile so I can see what this looks like?

    Ok, in your case the $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] add only a "/" because the link is in the site root directory; nothing is wrong in my case... only I put those link in a subdir.

    Now, I put them in the root dir and jumps right to the correct dir /lang/* as you can see here

    I copy the content of translate dir into "en" and "de" directories with the debugging option activated in "de" directory and the result is this:
    We are experiencing a temporary problem with the foreign language section. Please try again later. We apologize for the inconvenience.
    Scuzi / Perdon / Pardon / Das is Nicht Gud / Sori / Nay canne doo tha laddy
    Code: -1 (LANG2: CURL not available)
    so... I check phpinfo() and nothing about curl shows up

    Now I working to make curl works in my server.

    The en and de directories are virtual -- they don't actually exist.

    The only directories which this script uses are:

    • /lang
    • /ylang
    • /translate
    • /translate/g
    • /translate/y

    OK, I just delete all subdirectories and leaves only a .htaccess containing this:
    HTML Code:
    # This line enables Apache's Rewrite Engine; it is required for the following lines
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase   /
    #collapse recursion first, then send off to translate
    RewriteRule ^[^/]+/(lang|ylang)/(.*)$    $1/$2 [R=301,L]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$                translate/g/$1
    And... nothing.. 404 document not found

    like apache don't look into .htaccess.... I recheck the httpd.conf and I found AllowOverride set to "None" for the apache root directory, I changed to All and the .htaccess works fine. Now still with the same curl problem.. I run a Debian Sarge; maybe tomorrow I change it to the latest version; is the only solution.
