Looking for a Live Streaming Video Solution

One of my clients is interested in setting up a series of live video cameras that streams video to his web site. He wants to show multiple angle shots of a paintball field.

Most of the streaming solutions I found require an exe executable or Java file to be downloaded and installed.

I know there are some web sites that do this without a downloaded executable. I assume that some type of player is required, but I am not sure how this is done.

Does anyone have any experience setting something like this up? How would I go about doing it?

I can get you in touch with a friend who runs a hosting company, he should be able to do all this.

I think that a service such as ustream.tv would work. I watched a live stream and it was using Adobe Flash Player. For multiple cameras, I guess that they would need a video selector box that can rotate around the camera feeds. I would look up security camera solutions for this. Then they would only need to stream one feed to the web.

The client already has 14 cameras in place and is testing a downloadable from a Chinese company. Each visitor would be required to download an exe file to access the cameras. Quite frankly, I am skittish about even testing an exe file out of China.

The guy seems to like the Chinese solution, but I think there will be a high degree of resistance with installing an executable on user's PCs. Plus, I have not idea as to what could be hidden in a file like that and it could be disastrous if the file creates problems.

There has to be a better way to do this that does not require a download.

That's my feeling as well. The guy keeps bugging me to look at the Chinese executable solution, but I don't want to install it.
