    Protecting Online Video Content

Say we have to provide an on-demand training course, now this course will require user credentials to log in and view the content/flash videos.

We are thinking that some people may try to rig us by buying just a single training course and sharing it with others or some company can buy 1 course and then distribute the user credentials within the team..

What options do we have to save ourselves in such a scenario?

Code your authentication system to allow each account to be logged in from only one location at one time?

When the second person logs into the account, it automatically logs out the first?

Keep pressure on the members by printing the last 10 logins of the account as the bottom of the welcome screen?

This may not help especially in case of companies where we will get only one public IP for all their machines.

This may partially help. Here we are talking about concurrent users only what will happen in case where different users log in at different times? (the user credentials would remain the same)

    This one is nice.

Any thing else you would like to suggest?

I think will Will has given you best option . I was using VIP72.COM as a shared account with my online friend but when we login on main dashboard then we can check ip and location of last login users . So they told to not to share account with anyone and if 2 or more users are using one account but they are little far from each other then they can be traced easily and account get canceled .

So most of the time when he used to logout I was not able to login for next 10 to 15 minutes from my ip adress . I don't know what they were using for this system but it was little usefull to track and make content safe litle bit .

Use a desktop application to distribute the content. Make it request an authorization to your server that is valid for, say, 10 minutes. The server will only send one authorization for every 10 minutes for each account.

Then it can only be viewed on a single computer at a time, regardless of their IPs.
