Video streaming sites

So who here runs video streaming sites?

You know like all these watchscrubsonline.com kindof sites.
I hear they do well, how is it working for you?

I don't run any but use them do use them occasionally. I thought they were illegal?, i.e. copyrighted materials.

The funniest thing I saw was on one of these sites: "example.com is not responsible for any content on this website". Well of course they are responsible, they are the ones that uploaded it to the net

I would not get involved with these sites. It was interesting with the recent case with thepiratebay.org, I think these sites are similar in the way that they are profiting from illegal content.

Google will crack down on them one day. Does anyone know if they are indexed in Google searches?

They don't upload any videos, they just link to them. The videos are uploaded on sites like megavideo etc.

Yes, I realize that, however they are still responsible for choosing to link to megavideo.

I think all these stuffs like embedding and linking are big loopholes exploited by many such video sites..just simply say that you dont host it and you feel safer..

yes, but as far as I know that's not illegal.
You can get sued if you're big (like there were a few uk sites like these, don't recall them now, that got closed a year ago). But there aren't any explicit rules prohibiting linking.
