Thread: Beauty or Simple

When designing your website, do you look towards making it colorful and improving the appearance so it attracts users or do you make it simple, easy to use, fast to navigate?

Well i don't do much coding, but design wise i try to keep my designs simple, mostly because i only just started so i want to gradually build up.
I've done 2 designs so far, and both look simple and straight to the point.
I guess it depends on what the website is too.

Well a beautiful one may attract more people if it doesn't more time to load, each type has its own advantages and disadvantages

I usually leave website if the design doesn't look "modern". If that the correct term. I like the PSD over the Paint Look.

For me, I want my site to look simple, yet attractive.
Simplicity for faster loading time and attractiveness for people to go back and visit my site again and again to see more updates.

Yes, you have to have some sort of attraction there.

I like simple website really, i like to be able to navigate easily, obviously it has to have some attractive features though.

Of course. Without the attraction your site will never get anywhere.

I agree. Beauty and simplicity should be on the same boat when building and creating a site. I can't really help to to stay away from boring and not properly designed sites.
