Hi, there are wordpress plugins and other
Blog components for Joomla, what have you looked into so far ? Are you using Joomla 1.5 or 1.0.15 ?
I have tested a free a wordpress plugin for Joomla called Mojoblog which is based on wordpress for Joomla 1.0.15
Last I looked development for Mojoblog had completely stalled because the main dev focused his attention on another project. I've used mojoblog and it's very good, in the end though the lack of support for SEF urls made me drop it and just go with the default Joomla system.
I've also tested Azrul MyBlog awhile ago and it was not very good, certainly not worth paying for. It seemed that you were restricted to having only one blog category and needed a lot of improvements before it would be useful for me.
One that I haven't tried yet but sounds promising is this one from Core-PHP, this is for Joomla 1.5 and would be my first choice:
'corePHP' WordPress MU for Joomla!
You can use Joomla as a blog without anything else, but not without a little bit of work to build up a blog based structure. For me Joomla is much more powerful, flexible and most of all a more secure system than wordpress.
Keep in mind that other Blogging extensions for Joomla have been released after this article was written:
