FreshMag
- Looks a bit busy, but does seem to have more of a travel site format.
- Doesn't seem to leave a lot of room for ads.
Impulse
- Does have more room for ads and is more customizable.
- Has less of that out-of-box travel site look.
Are you concerned about load times? FreshMag is going to be more resource intensive.
How often do you anticipate updating the content? Impulse is likely going to need more content to fill out the template.

The blog should be console for the visitors to read your blog posts. I feel, discomfort with the Freshmag - home so i put forward you to go for Impulse theme as it is quite straightforward.

I have to say FreshMag, I love the Javascript involved - it's awesome!

The second is better, but I wouldn't go with either of them. You can find something that is both attractive and simplistic if you look hard enough.
