    Template Ideas for a Portfolio?

I'm building a writing portfolio and need some ideas for a nice theme. What would you suggest?

try to make it as simple as possible (not basic, and not complex). Clients would want to navigate around your portfolio easily without too many troubles

    good luck

As Aziz said you want clients or future clients to be able to get around easily so a simple template is good but also the simple template wont distract them from the thing that you are trying to sell which is also good.

I recommend to take a look at,
    Portfolio - ThemeForest
and see if there are any there that spark your interest, the templates are not expensive like templatemonster.

While we are on the subject of portfolios, is it acceptable to use any sort of monetizing methods for it? Perhaps affiliate things, or adsense even?

I think it would look a bit desperate or cheezy to put ads on your protfolio. But thats my opinion.

I thought so too at first but I saw a few that used adsense.

I hate telling other exactly how to design their website, as we're all web designers and we all have our own preferences for design. However what I would say for your portfolio is to Google inspirational porfolio sites or collection of portfolio web designs, you'll find tons and tons of articles pop up for inspiration. There are so many web design blogs which post these list-style posts to their site to draw in traffic, but in reality the collection of designs they showcase really can help whenever you've got some creative block with web design.

Post up for finished design if you can, I'd be interested to see it. Best of luck
