    3D help

    I just started learning 3d modeling. So is there anyone who could share some tips/tricks or even good tutorials?

    Any help is appreciated.

    3ds Max 2008.

    I found video tutorial describing how to make a house and another "forum" tutorial explaining how to apply materials on 3d object. Quite good tutorials, I'm practicing with them for now.

  4. My own list of 3D Studio Max Tutorials is pretty weak. It will hopefully get revamped later this year.

    I might be of some help, if you have any specific questions that is. Otherwise, there is a plethora of info in the help and tuts that ship with max if you're just looking for basic info or insight.

    Here is what I've been working on the last few weeks - I'm in the UV mapping phase now.

    Thanks both of you, I'll surely ask if I stuck somewhere. Might even post if I succeed in making something decent.

    Definitely start with something easy. I mean, ultimately, it all depends on what aspect of 3d you're looking to specialize in or at least, learn first.

    Don't get all caught up on trying to learn everything all at once. Pick something and focus on that until you feel confident enough to move forward and tackle something new; ideally something that will integrate what you've already learned. Keeping in mind that there are some things that will require prior knowledge of something else - Like rigging is dependent on modifiers and sub-object knowledge. Whereas lighting for instance, is something you can dive right into right away. You just need a primitive object and that's it. Drop in some lights and start learning the fundamentals of lighting, not only the 3d settings but also the theory and artistic integrity of lighting such as photography lighting and film/video lighting for motion.
