Thread: Do you only go in for .com's?

I've used .info domains before and they definitely serve a purpose. I've used them for stuff that I don't need to "sell" - i.e. a friend has a baseball site that he posts tournament info on, so the .info is very appropriate. I've also used them as a cheap alternative to a .com when the .com I want is taken, but usually this is on a flip. With the right SEO and marketing, it would not matter the extension.

I had Gayadesign.nl as my main domain for a very long time. The dot com version was taken. And just when I was into blogging the .com version became available. People click .com faster than .nl outside of the NEtherlands

Yeah, but you can still get to number 1 in search engines with a .info. Yeah, people might not trust it as much, but I'm sure the vast majority of normal web users will just click the top result.

Yes, but that's not down to the extension, that's down to the site owners of the first three results being better at SEO.

I'm talking of the first 3 results: they are .com's. It was more of a funny parrallel than anything else.

what I meant to say was: if you have a website that ends in .info. does it have information about .info? most likely not. I mean, my blog isn't about .com's or .nl's :P
The results are logical

yes i'm only going for .com only since i have no reason to use another domain extension.
But i wanna domain with .asia extension for my blog

I prefer .com but if that isn't available I like to go for .net and if that isn't even available I will go for a .org but usually I like to have all 3 domains empty that way no one can get confused and go to the wrong site.

Plus, .com is usually assumed when typing a link.
