also agree with steven. And sometime we get wrong in typing site url, right? When we want to enter (for example) abc. net , sometime we type it abc. com . Hehe...
For flipping site purpose, .com is also more expensive
Both Steven and Akira have a point here. .com
I share Steven thoughts that .org have somewhat professional and good-looking at the same time.
But yes, .com's are better for marketing and commercial use, hence the 3 letters. :P
actually, domain extentions have it purpose
com is for commercial
edu is for education site
tv is for tv channel
org is for organization etc...
but i think it's no longer important. Just see, there is many tv hcannel, organization, life story blog, etc which using com
yes.. go for .com
anyway price for .com and the other domain extension is not really different.. so why bother to think about other domain..
except like akira says.. if you make educational site.. for sure you need to use .edu
easier for ppl to remember..
it's not like -> "errr.. is his site .net or .org ???"
When I buy domains, I normally buy the .com, .net, .org, .us if they are all, available. It prevents domain squatters.
What this basically means is that people were trying in .com instead of .net, so I was losing out on a load of traffic :(
Envato uses .net for all of their marketplaces. so I don't really think it's a major hindrance.
Concerning the last few posts:
Even though Problogger is also registered with the.com extension, does some of you know why we are redirected to the .net version?
My guess is that first, Mr. Rose had only registered the .net domain, but he turned out to be pretty successful anyway, and raised enough money to buy the .com (it must have been pricy). :P
