Do you only go in for .com's?

    Heya!

Generally people only go in for .com's for many reasons.

Do you do the same. Or do you settle for other extensions if a great name is available.

As for me, I stick only to .com's. However I do not mind .me's too. And if the site is targeting a country like India, I would take a .in too.

    Cheers!

Yup, I register like 1-2 domains every day and I prefer .com's mostly; .net if I find something really remarkable.

    I avoid .info.

I dont buy as many domains as you guys, but I prefer .com and .me, .in can also be used in cases like txtb.in, other than sites targeting indian audience.

I also stick to .com domains. I think the last time I purchased a domain that wasn't a .com was back in 2004.

I try to grab a .com first, but if not available and the keywords in the domain name are the ones which i really want, i get open to all choices like .net, .org and .in but .info is out of my list.

For ranking results .com and .net domains are at the same level, therefore I predict a strong success to newer .me domains especially for all the moguls that will register their own name.

I once saw that .org, .gov and .edu (of course you can't register the last two) domains tend to get faster to the top of search engines since they often point to high quality websites.

Swas, I agree with the avoiding '.info' point... I HATE them

I try and go for .com, but if it's a really good domain I'll happily settle for a .net

Hmm, that's odd, I'm sure I heard somewhere that the domain extension is irrelevant to SEO. If that's right, it's probably a coincidence that they do well in SERPS because they usually have official info which will get linked to a lot.

Or am I just talking rubbish? lol

You are kind of indeed (lol) because domains do have an impact (maybe abit indirect, I have to agree) on web optimisation: if users can't trust a site's address (.info), well good luck for your #1 position.

edit: there's an edit button ya know.

Yes, and similar is the case when you get a .gov or a .edu backlink. They tend to weigh much more than anything else.
