    -environmental control
    -UPS

There is a good chance even power cabling may move on to super-conducting cables. With technology advancing at a fast rate, anything is possible!

Is there anything of higher quality than optical cabling used on data centers?

One thing no one knows is this:
One day the data center is on main street in an ugly building.
Next day the data center is on elm street in a brand new glass tower.

I don't think that there would be big changes in DC because improving existing DCs costs very much. Cheaper to build new one, but where to get place for it?

When viewed from the characteristics of the technology used, the price we pay will be more expensive when compared to some of the technologies we use today.
