I just got a letter from my hosting company about resource usage due to vBulletin and vBSEO so i'm wondering if this is a common problem? Should I try to find a new host, or move to a different software?

Sounds like you do not have alot of space to play around with, and since installing vbulletin (which is a resource taker.) You may be low on resources for your site.
I would reccomend at least 5GB webspace and and 20GB plus bandwidth. And no ive never had my site cut off.
No, I've never been cut off. How big is your forum? Hosts generally send out emails like that when sites get too active for shared servers. If you're forums really active then it may be time to move to a VPS, if not then maybe find a new host but speak to their support first so you can work out what the best hosting plan is for your site.![]()
My forums have never shut off, but there has been downtime on the servers. They're usually back up by the time I visit again though.
What resource are they complaining about? CPU? RAM? Bandwidth? Disk space?
I don't usually have resource utilization issues from vBulletin, and I always run vBSEO.

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.
I'm on a VPS with 500 GB storage and 2 TB bandwidth and I don't think they can complain. Isn't a VPS where you get guaranteed resources? So if you reach your limit your site gets turned off, but with a high limit noone can complain![]()
(Wow I worded that so badly that it's like I don't know English)
