httpd failed? I always get this error.

    Hey guys,

    I am not understanding this.

Everyday I atleast get 2 of these errors and right now there is only 2 proxies on this server.

httpd failed @ Sat Aug 1 10:42:23 2009. A restart was attempted automagically.
    Service Check Method: [tcp connect]

Failure Reason: Timeout while trying to get data from service

Why is this? Is it normal?

It's not normal for Apache to need to restart twice a day.

I'd check the Apache error logs and the system error logs.

Is this server managed or unmanaged? It is dedicated, VPS, or shared?

    Hello Will,

Cpanel is not my strongest attribute. Where will I find the error logs. It is fully managed and dedicated.

I have had this error with the past 2 dedicated servers.

I used to get those about once or twice a month (sometimes even once a week during my early stages). What you do is go into SSH (shell) and type in service httpd restart and it should spit out why it's not restarting / failed at which you can deliever that to your full management team and they should be able to digest and fix it.

I do not see anywhere I can search for this inside SSH. What do I need to type at the top of WHM to find the right terminal to access these results?

    Thanks

First you need to install Putty or some sort of SSH client onto your PC. Then you enter in your server details (IP, root, pass, port etc) and once you're logged in, you just type that in and it should spit something back at you.
