As the title says ;)

A trustworthy host is most essential. Forget downtime (which should be at a minimum) your host should be trustworthy or else he can do loads of crap with your sites.

If I remember correctly Colleen's - of WTF - host put some popup ads on her site. She KILLED them, wrote a blog post- and that host had to close down.
