Is there a REALLY good FREE webhost out there ?
I am going to be making up a website or blog to advertise a no. of affiliate programs but because at the moment my funds are all tied up I am forced to use one of the free services.
Years ago I heard that FREE web hosting was not very reliable & the host would put their adds on your website – is that the case today ?
In the future would I be able to transfer the domain name into another web host if I wanted to ?
I should also ask (for future reference) which one of the paid web hosts is the best overall ?
Which one is the easiest to use ?
Which one is the most creative /artistic ?
Which one is the most versatile ?
Thanks

Honestly, there are some free hosting sites that are considered to be quite good. The only thing you might need to look into is how reliable the service really is. I have actually used freehostia.com and they are very good. The good thing is that you will be hosted on the same server as the paid customers. It's kind of a disadvantage to them, but it actually works well. The limits imposed on the free hosting account is a little restrictive though.

Some FREE hosts require you to place a banner on your pages, others display a window that pops up everytime a page on your site loads, while still others impose an advertising frame on your site. There is really no hard and fast rule which is to be preferred.

I always go by the old saying, you get what you pay for.
I've never tried a free host, but I have found some "cheap" hosts that are pretty good... i.e. $3/mo or less. But it depends on how important your website is and how much bandwidth you need, I think.
If there are any reliable FREE hosts out there, I'd like to know.

If you purchase your own domain name from a registrar like namecheap or godaddy, the domain is yours and yours alone.
So using a free web host for your domain is no problem should you want to move that domain to a better host.
Now, do not bother wasting your money buying a domain from some host company that will give you free hosting in exchange.
