Thread: Who was your first host?

All I can tell you is stay away from DreamHost or I called them DeadHost or DyingHost--poor customer service, no live support and they can canceled your account for no reasons.

Now I have my own cloud computing host.

My first host was LunarPages. Biggest mistake ever! My site was hacked due to a server vulnerability and I had to use my most recent backup which was from a few days prior, meaning a lot of data was lost. So I paid them money to keep backups for me - when something broke on their end, they told me the backups were not available. After calling and calling and only being put on hold, I ended up just giving up and left. I took all of my data and just deleted my billing information.

Then I went to DreamHost. I stayed with this company for years. Excellent support, great service - definitely no problems there. However, once I needed more room and resources I bought a VPS with them. Constant errors - though they did fix them promptly. Their resource monitor guesses what you'll use and charges you for that. Leaving you paying much more than you should be. On top of the price of the VPS (which is overpriced in itself) you're also paying for the shared hosting account. (Why? I have no idea.)

I don't know what the guy above is talking about, because I had fast support and no issues aside from what I mentioned above. If you just need shared hosting, DreamHost is number one in my opinion.

When I realized that I was being ridiculously overcharged, I left. Now I am with a very stable and professional company and own a really advanced dedicated server. I've never been happier.

Probably some lame free hosting, don't remember now

My first host provider was resellerzoom.com. They were really good 6-7 years ago.

Yeah I used them too, about 3 years ago. Even had 2-3 accounts

Poor customer Service eh? It's really not that bad, either fill out a support ticket or post something on there forum. It's rare that I will need to wait hours on end.

Any reason eh? Far from it really, dreamhost will only reallysuspend your account if you have done something seriously bad(I can name a few sites as examples if you want lol).
