AdBrite Giving Up Proxies - Official

I just received this email today from AdBrite to say they're not going to serve ads to proxy sites anymore. I know it was on the cards but now it's official seeing as they've sent out an email warning:
    Hello,

Our site review department needs to be able to review the content of a site in order to ensure the content is allowed. Under this policy we cannot allow sites that frame other sites, such as a URL shortening service or a proxy. If you have registered one of these services with us in the past we will be disabling the zone and ask that you please remove the zone from your site. This will not affect your other zones and you will receive your payment according to the normal payment schedule.

    Sincerely,
    adBrite Client Services
I don't have any other zones, I only use them on proxies but luckily I got a payout cheque a couple of weeks ago for just over $100 for ads 'til end Dec 2010. Given that they pay so poorly I'm only going to lose a few weeks worth of revenue, probably $15 if that, it takes over six months to get the $100 minimum for payout, then it costs $10 (£6) in bank charges to process (I'm in UK).

I have, just last week, been accepted into Adversal so it looks like I'm going to have to put pop-unders on all my proxies now as much as I hate them. I don't want to give away bandwidth after all, I'm a skinflint/tightwad penny pincher kinda guy and someones gotta pay

Ah well, more work (damn it), making new Adversal zones and altering config files. Will it ever end....

Sometimes I hate proxies, but they do buy me new shiney things.
If I can't be a good example, I'll just have to be a terrible warning...

This recent change wouldn't affect most peoples' earnings though, since they don't pay that well. I experimented with AdBrite a while ago, and decided they weren't so great.

I have received the same message. Adversal never accepted my applications. I run popunders from a different network, yet I am in need for a banner replacement for Adbrite ... not Smowtion/Trafficrevenue

    Suggestions are very welcomed.

    Thanks!

Just changed all my proxy sites to BidVertiser.
Hopefully it will all work out.

    Your damn right.
I old made like 30 cents for a whole month with them.
It was time to change ad providers anyways.

AdBrite isn't great, but it's certainly not the worst. Therefore, I still find myself using it.

I refuse to use Google AdWords simply because of how unstable it is. You never know if/when something will go wrong. It's so incredibly easy for someone to cause problems for you by clicking on your ads and abusing the system. I could go on and on. BidVertiser was a terrible network and I would not recommend them. But, the worst network, by far, is AdsDaq. Click the link for my full review... it's horrifying.

Adsense is fine for the home page, in fact it's where most of my proxy income comes from, it has it's risks I know but it pays the best. It's not suitable for the proxified page tho' so alternatives have to be used. It's not against their terms as such, but some of the sites visited are (bloody pervs), if only we could use it there then there wouldn't be a problem and earnings would be good.

I did try Bidvertiser briefly, until they disabled the ads saying the sites were 'under construction'. They weren't of course but I only had Bidvertiser on the proxy pages, not home page, so maybe they were miffed at that. The results were disappointing anyway tho' so I wouldn't have kept them probably.

AdBrite aren't brilliant but they are (were) better than nothing. I have one hell of a job to log into their site since they changed the look of it tho', and the new look sucks imho, I can only login with Chrome, IE and FF keep looping back to the login prompt. They've certainly not done themselves any favors lately, but it's their business, what they do with it is up to them.

For those that like the figures here's the averages, the number of proxies varies between one and two dozen, I have more but a lot are on free proxy hosting.
Average daily earnings past 30 days $0.40
Average daily pageviews past 30 days 7,406
    Month-to-date earnings $10.46
    January earnings: $4.84
    December earnings $13.44
Not too impressive so I hope Adversal can do better. I have changed all the ad codes now so the $15 earned from AdBrite this year will be written off but I think they will lose the most overall. If it was Adsense, from the figures above I'd be making $10 a day minimum, so they can't hope to compete with their meager payouts.

All in all I think it makes the freeproxyhosting.net even more attractive now, no worries about server costs or maintenance, all the plugins are already installed (and updated regularly) all you need to do is drive traffic. There isn't the same control but there's virtually no cost apart from domain names. Just pocket the Adsense earnings and laugh all the way to the bank.

I haven't tried any other ads on proxified pages (yet) but I did consider Commission Junction and affiliate networks like ClickBank, I don't know anyone that does that tho' so I can't say if it would be successful or not, might be worth a try given the limited options currently available tho'. The demographic of proxy users is predominantly young people so anything to do with phones, games, music and free stuff should do well.

It seems like some of the newer (and not so new) ad networks have a trust issue so there is a risk with them too but this is a forum full of entrepreneurs and clever people (mostly anyway, there are exceptions) so there's an opportunity knocking for the right person to take the challenge and run with it (he says hopefully). If developing countries could be monetized properly and geo targeting was involved the the sky's the limit. Fortunes could be made.

OK lecture over, back to the tea and bickies (cookies).

(credit goes to my spell checker)
If I can't be a good example, I'll just have to be a terrible warning...

I've been having the same problem and also use Chrome to login. What an unusual problem.
