The server you are on had a hard drive failure, which is the reason for the november end downtime. Hardware failures are unavoidable & happen once in a while. This is the same problem which TMZhosting had, but they lost all the data whereas we just restored backups & went back up.
I went through your tickets & one downtime ticket is around 2 months ago when backups were slowing down the server (we can disable backups to resolve this, but you would have no data in case of hard drive failures). One more ticket before that was 4 months ago, which was due to incorrect code in your .htaccess.
If you notice any downtime, you should email firstname.lastname@example.org immediately so that we can work to fix the issues permanently. We can also move you to another server in a different datacentre , if your ISP has issues accessing the current DC.
Our proxy servers have not had any downtime for over 6 months , & reviews on DP can tell you that.
This is awfully shocking to see a host just 'shut down' and send you on your way...
Well, I suppose that happens. There isn't really much you can do except move on, like you have. It's situations like this that cause me to run automatic backups of my proxies and keep hosting paid month by month, rather than yearly or quarterly, just in case.

I moved to O2PH just a week before TMZ closed down..and my move has been awesome..I was with TMZ for too long..but decided to move after my proxies faced libcurl errors every single day.
Moreover, their support got awful..it was very good initially then it sucked..they would always reply with "We are working on it" to my support tickets and then no replies till 2-3 days..
It's a shame they have come to this, however they had problems ever since that *DDos attack* it was lucky I got out months before...
