Thread: Block all together or Redirect - Cant decide

Hey guys,

I have been hard a work in the back office of the network this weekend and now I got to the time of either blocking or redirecting the trash traffic.

I have CSF in CPanel and that seems to be the easiest to use to block but I could use GeoIP although I have no experience with it.

If I am going to redirect it it will just trash the site its redirecting to so I do not know what to do about it.

I am thinking about block it all together.

Here are the countries I am blocking. Any additional recommendations?

Saudi Arabia
UAE
Oman
Iran
Afghanistan
China

Several people have said and done this they take one of the cheap proxy hosting packages and through up a proxy with pop ups galore and then redirect all unwanted traffic to it. I dont know what companies they use to earn off the traffic but they earn enough to pay the cheap bill and make a profit. So might be a thought.

I redirect my bad traffic from my proxies to a proxy list, where resource usage isn't an issue.

I think I am going to just block them all together. It kills the Alexa stats, and does not look good if people are bidding for ads directly on my sites.

So CSF it is.

How do you redirect with CSF?

Not sure. Can you set some kind of error page when blocking using CSF? So then you can put a redirection code on there.
