Thread: Block this site from selling access to your proxy

Hey guys I picked up this site recently and found that they are selling access to proxies..
I suspect they 'might' be selling access to free proxies, but there's no way to tell for sure.

This is just a discount table based on quantity rule matching.
We don't have a minimum or maximum quantity set before you can purchase.
The price for one anonymous proxy is $2.5. Based on the quantity of anonymous proxies you purchase, the above discounts apply to your shopping cart totals.

It's a closed site so you can't directly check if your proxy site is listed without buying into it, and I'm not prepared to do that.
Their location list shows thay have over 4000 proxies based in the US and Uk.

What you can do to start off with though is add these entries below to your .htaccess file to help prevent them from profiting off your site, by blocking their server IP range and anyone who has the site in their browser referer.

I don't think they're selling web proxies.

Yeah, It appears they are selling IP:Port HTTP Proxies.

I know what they say on the outside of the site says otherwise, but I'm a little suspicious because of what I see in my logs with people coming from there. That's why I'm saying to be a little cautious about it.

It's impossible to tell for sure what's for sale though when it's a closed site.

Things aren't always what they appear to be.. look at the guy selling the free proxycoder list script from the proxyman site, [New] Proxy List Script - the only difference is what it looks like on the outside.

Well in fact what's the big problem for us? It sucks that people actually pay for it, but I wouldn't be mad if I get free traffic from that site

No, there's no problem for you if you don't mind people selling access to your site , any extra free traffic to your site is good for you I guess.

And I don't know for sure if that's what's going on there, but you never know what some will people try to get away with.

More people will probably look at this and think it's a good idea to start doing it themselves.

Could you prove why he's wrong?

The best technical solution to a problem like this is to simply block other proxies from accessing yours. Your server resources will improve and you will likely have less abuse.

Sorry about that ciokan, but mate I have no way of knowing what's going on in your private site. I found your site in my logs, checked it out and it looked worth blocking. And block it I did.
