Has Google Ever Shut Down Your Group?

Well it's not necessarily that I trust Google, it's that normal web users trust Google

I'm all for saving money when you can, but there are some things you just can't expect to get for free or rely on. Using free services has only down falls and the only real upside to it, is thats its free. Don't be a cheap-0 and expect to make tons of money, it wont happen.

My rule of thumb is, if the site is intended to make me money (now or in the near future) then it shouldn't be left to any free service to depend on for running, maintaining, hosting, emailing, or any aspect of my site.

Yes. It's a script that you install on your own server.

I can't really think of major downfalls with Google:

Pros -
Trusted by Users
Easy to Manage
I can auto-schedule with cron-jobs
Simple Setup
Always Online
Don't need to pay for servers

Cons -
Google owns lists, can shut down my group (I doubt it, and if I backup every few days than there shouldn't be a problem).

Did your emails have content, Or were you just emailing links?
If you were just emailing the same links and looked spammy. Then that may be why.
You should make a template like

Hello, here are some proxies for [date]. Thank you for subscribing to our newletter , here are the link to new proxy sites.
[links]

Regards,
Name, url.

*you are recieving this email becuase you opted into [link] google group.

No they seem to be banning groups indiscriminately. Mine was flagged spam then deleted as well.

Averaging 2 emails every 3 days, moderator only, and every single email was completely unique text along with the links...
