Thread: Has Google Ever Shut Down Your Group?

My 2 proxy google groups were removed by google.
They were marked as "spam" by Google.
One of it used moderation.

Does anyone else have the same experience about this?
And how do you prevent your group from being marked as "spam"?

How many mails were sent monthly? I think if it's higher than 300 they will mark the group as spam. But I'm far from sure though

I sent only one e-mail for about each one-three days (i didn't send it daily).
Each e-mail only contain 1-5 proxy links max.
I am really confused about the spam standard

How big where the groups ? It would be a real shame if they where big ones...

I am a grumpy old Unix admin. I don't like relying on free online services, because they often do stupid things like this.

I'd rather use vBulletin or another web forum than setup a Google group or another system that could be taken away from me at any time with no notice and no recourse.

Most of the time and effort you have invested in your Google group is now gone. Do you at least have a list of member email addresses?

The group were rather small, actually.
One had 200 members.
And the another had only about 6 members, and less than 20 messages, and Google still remove it.

I do not have the previous member's email.
Is there another service / maybe a free script for email list which can be installed independently?

I will actually start backing up the groups once I reach 1000, every 200 or so.

If it were me, I would use a web forum software. Most of those allow you to email the member base.

But if you want something purely email focused, I can give you a free copy of PHP Autoresponder. I bought the site and the software about a year ago.

I was thinking of doing that, but I prefer using Google because it's free, I don't need to pay for resources and worry about spam issues and stuff, and because people trust Google.

I don't trust Google.

Trusting Google is what got xrvel into the mess he's currently in.
