How to configure Proxy in internet explorer?

    Hi guys,

could you please tell how to configure a proxy surfing in internet explorer.

I tried configuring by changing the LAN Settings by giving 216.130.157.20 as ip address and 80 as port number but it did not work. I could not surf at all.

The ip address i got from a proxy list.

Or for this purpose do I have to create a premium account in their site?

You changed the right settings - did you get the right port number, not all use 80.

If it was a free proxy from a list, they disappear all the time, so it might be that. Of course it also depends on your internal network, from a school or college there might be other issues, firewall, content filters etc.

I tried it from my personal computer. I believe that the port number is right and the issue is with the proxy url. But they have given as a free service. Am not sure about it. Still the issue is not solved.

I ran it through a couple of proxy checkers - there's no proxy available on port 80 on that IP sorry.

I have a couple of codes for free 10 day trials of the private service I use if you want. Drop me a PM with your email address if you want a code.

I don't know if any are giving away lists but I do know that most free proxies on these lists are quite often just misconfigured or hacked servers. Proxy servers are very expensive to run why would people give them away for free?

Remember the minute you configure your browser to go through a proxy, you are sending all your data through them. Free proxies are ok for certain things but you have to be very careful with using them - I would never use them personally because I have seen too many run on hacked servers in companies and colleges.
