Methods of checking if your proxy is blocked?

What are some ways to check if your proxy is blocked?

But more importantly, what are some popular filters (like Websense) that schools and other networks use to block sites?

These are the top 3 I know. 99% of proxies dont make it threw these.
You can make a new proxy site and it will blocked in a hour or the next day. Take one of the newest proxies on tech-faq and put threw the blue coat Sitereview, you'll see what I mean. This is becuase the have the word "proxy" in their html = instant block. Now Lightspeed particularly seems to have some staff that manually categorizes them. I guess there probably watching all the popular sources themselves. All of these use, Bots that analyze the html content, 2nd Manually categorization by the staff working for the company having themselves also subscribed to the same venues you promote your proxy on, 3rd Manually categorization by their customers, 4th pattern recognition and lastly IP neighbourhood anayzlize (Has this IP been caught hosting before proxies?)
If you can get threw all these you will have an unblocked proxy (for awhile..) that can be accessed by commercial filters.

    • Websense requires a login.

Wow, thanks for all the info. I guess it's kind of hard to get around manual additions from people subscribing to proxy sources, but seems like you can delay getting blocked from some of the other methods.

Getting threw the commerical filters is rather easy for "personal use" and its on a new ip and your the only one going to be using it. Just make one and make it look an educational site or something. The problem comes from you want other people to use it. You have make look like a proxy else they'll think its not a proxy. plus their are watching the same venues you promote it on.
    Its rather difficult.

Most proxy sites will get blocked in time, SSL makes it slightly harder for them to block though.

Yeah its easy for personal use just use a different IP and don't include the word proxy some times it might be useful encrypting the code.

btw thanks for this link http://sitereview.bluecoat.com/sitereview.jsp
